A Note From Your President
College is marked by change. Each year, 2700 students return to Pepperdine a little
bit changed and at a different part in their life. They return to continue on the path
of developing themselves socially, intellectually, and spiritually. Each year, students
look to their representatives to provide events and programs that will entertain and
assist them in this development process. Historically, Student Government has been
marred with the internal and external limitations. As such, a pendulum effect of both
positive and negative results and feelings were produced.

This year, Pepperdine will be marked by change. This year, fall 2002 and spring 2003,
will be year one of Student Government's contract with the Seaver student. This
contract will be the product of the simple goal to enhance student life through
ambitious programs and consistent event programming. With positive collaboration
with Student Activities and various other departments, Student Government has
positioned itself to lobby and initiate various new policies and several permanent
event resources like sand volleyball courts and a new student lounge for the
Pepperdine community. This fall, Student Government will also launch a new Safe
Rides program, continue to develop a Pepperdine Movie Channel, and place a
permanent Freedom Wall on this campus to enshrine the freedom of speech and
the pursuit of truth.

This is just the beginning, a Student Government vision based on service and the
idea of Student Government being "by the students, for the students, and of the
students" at Pepperdine University.
